How to Rehydrate Hair After Bleaching

Hello!

Fan of bleach? Me too! What does bleach do to your hair?

During the bleaching process, alkaline agents cause your hair to swell and open the cuticles.

Once the cuticles expand, these alkaline agents penetrate the hair’s cortex and dissolve the natural pigments, known as melanin which lightens the colour.

This process also breaks down the natural fatty acids in hair that can leave it brittle, damaged and unhealthy.

💧 Five Tips To Rehydrate Your Hair After Bleaching

The first three 💧

In the first three weeks after bleach, hair is weaker and more susceptible to breakage, and this is especially the case for wet hair.

To protect hair during this window wash hair less often and break away from chemical-filled shampoo that strips the cuticle of even more of the natural oils you need for hair health, strength and shine.

Go deep on moisture 💧

Bleaching leaves hair drier, stripping hair of its natural moisture, fatty acids and oils. To bring back a healthy texture you need to replace what it has lost to rebuild moisture, strength, and shine.

As both pre and post-shower treatments, nourishing natural hair oil with all those luxurious fatty acids will hydrate and protect roughed up cuticles from the bleaching process.

Gently does it 💧

Wet hair is at its weakest. Ditch the cotton towel for a softer option like a microfiber hair towel or an old t-shirt.

Make sure to gently squeeze or scrunch your hair, rather than rubbing it dry, and then comb with a gentle wide-toothed comb.

Easy on the heat 💧

If you’re using hot tools on bleached hair, it can make dry and vulnerable strands even more damaged.

Letting your air-dry is my favourite way but if that’s not an option for whatever reason then use a protecting blowdry primer oil before doing anything else with your locks!

Mask it up  💧

If you have bleached hair, give hair some weekly love with a rich and natural hair mask to replenish what has been lost.

Heat two tablespoons of Goddess Liquid Gold Hair Oil and apply it to your hair, damp or dry. Wrap it in a microfiber towel or old t-shirt and leave for a couple of hours then wash hair as normal.

Love 💗
