Going that extra day between hair washes

Hello!

Let’s talk about….

Going that extra day between hair washes 🚿🚿🚿

The truth is sometimes, you want a helping hand to go that ‘extra day.’  Whether that means going from daily washes, or you’re stretching from 6 days to 7…

We can all use a few secrets in our back pocket to get us that one extra day without resorting to hiding at home.

So, whether you want to go one extra day because you’re super busy, or because you’d rather spend that precious time watching Netflix (guilty) here are my…

Top 7 ways go that one extra day without resorting to hiding at home 🚿

  1. Not all dry shampoo is created equal

Some dry shampoo is made with downright scary stuff. The worst thing is aerosol dry shampoo equals OVER application.

As well as giving the dreaded white witch look this is bad for the health of hair and scalp and can lead to problems including greasy roots!

Go for natural powder shampoo and apply it to roots with a clean makeup brush for a better application that keeps hair fresh as a daisy.

  1. Cool & dry

Warm or damp hair leads to raised cuticles. If cuticles aren’t flat and that means water in the air can sneak in, cause frizz, which in turn makes you touch hair more…and you know the rest!

Make sure hair is cool and dry before leaving the house for more manageable hair that lasts longer between washes.

  1. Clean pillowcase

Most of us spend a third of our lives in bed. Would you wrap your hair in a T-shirt you’ve worn for a week straight and expect it to be fresh and clean? Nope!

Clean hair deserves a clean pillowcase. When I started switching out my pillowcase more often, my hair stayed cleaner and lasted longer.

Side note… our hands are dirt magnets. Unless styling (with clean hands) keep them off your hair.

  1. Extra fine or period week?

Apply dry shampoo straight away around your crown and face. This gives volume and protects roots from grease straight away. I do this in the week before my period when my hair gets a wee bit greasier than normal (thanks hormones!)

  1. Skip the hot water hair wash

Hot water makes hair dry and brittle as it strips protective oils from your hair which can cause oil overproduction.  Make friends (or tolerate) a lukewarm shower for healthier hair that lasts longer between washes.

  1. Dry shampoo at night

Apply dry shampoo at night to give it time to work into hair. This makes it more effective and soaking up oil and stops the white witch look.

  1. Take the time

On hair wash day wash like a pro and take the time to thoroughly dry and style my hair, as it means you can go longer between washes. I learnt the hard way that prepared hair lasts longer!

And last but not least – getting hair gets back to its happy place means it will naturally last longer between washes.

Love 💗
